Job summary

CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit in New Jersey, seeks full-time Support Worker(s) to provide direct support, skill development, and linkage to community resources for residents with psychiatric and/or substance use challenges. You will work primarily in the field (70-80%) meeting clients on service plans, assessing needs, and documenting progress notes in compliance with regulatory standards.

A NJ driver’s license is required; on-call weekends offer added compensation and the role includes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a mental health related discipline preferred; alternatively, a high school diploma with 3+ years of related work/ lived experience.
• Ability to prepare clear, concise, timely, and accurate billable progress notes in accordance with clinical, regulatory requirements.
• Ability to carry out essential domestic responsibilities in support of daily living.
• Strong communication skills that promote collaboration and positive relationships.
• A prominent level of patience and emotional resilience.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure, demonstrate sound judgment, and adapt effectively to changing situations.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and provide consistent support to multiple residents.
• Proficient in MS Office products, as well as general computer literacy.
• Ability to effectively engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses through empathy, professionalism, and trauma‑informed approaches.
• Bilingual skills a plus!
• MUST have a valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
• Lived Experience: CSPNJ values the perspectives of individuals who have used their own experiences with mental health and/or substance use challenges to inspire, support, and empower others.

Responsibilities
