Job summary

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Field Service Technician – Surface Drills to support customers in the Kershaw, SC area and across the Eastern U.S. This role requires a strong mechanical or electrical background, solid diagnostic skills, and the ability to travel to customer sites.

You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose hydraulic and electrical faults, and complete field reports in Maximo and Dayforce while upholding safety standards across underground and surface mining equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; diesel, heavy equipment, hydraulic, or electrical certification preferred.
• Minimum three years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing mobile mining, construction, or comparable heavy equipment.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• MSHA Part 46/48 training (or ability to obtain), and ability to meet customer site-access, medical, and fit-for-duty requirements.
• Basic computer skills for electronic work orders, service reports, and time entry.
• Ability to travel regularly within East Tennessee and the surrounding region.
• Proven troubleshooting of hydraulic, electrical/electronic control, and diesel systems using schematics and diagnostic tools.
• Experience working in MSHA-regulated underground mines, quarries, or surface mining operations.

Responsibilities

• The Field Service Technician performs safe, high-quality maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of Sandvik equipment at customer sites across East Tennessee.
• Reporting to the Field Service Manager, the role maximizes equipment availability and reliability in accordance with OEM specifications and Sandvik standards.
• This role will primarily work out of the Kershaw, SC area, and will work across the fleet in the Eastern U.S.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, electronic control, diesel engine, powertrain, rock drill, and pneumatic system faults.
• Respond to breakdown and emergency service calls to minimize downtime and restore equipment safely and promptly.
• Complete accurate, timely field service reports, work orders, and time entries in Maximo and Dayforce.
• Maintain assigned tools, service vehicle, and test equipment in safe, clean, and calibrated condition.
• Follow safety requirements at all times and build professional customer relationships.
