Job summary

Sandvik Mining is seeking a Field Service Technician with a strong mechanical or electrical background and solid diagnostic skills. You will install, service, and commission fire suppression systems on Sandvik equipment at customer sites, primarily in East Tennessee, and support general field service on loaders, drills, and bolters.

Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, performing preventive maintenance, and completing detailed reports in Maximo and Dayforce.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; diesel, heavy equipment, hydraulic, or electrical technical certification or completed apprenticeship preferred.
• Minimum three years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing mobile mining, construction, or comparable heavy equipment; experience installing, servicing, or inspecting fire suppression systems on mobile equipment.
• Current manufacturer-authorized installation and service certification on Sandvik Eclipse or a comparable mobile equipment fire suppression system strongly preferred; candidates without certification must obtain it within a set timeframe after hire.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record; MSHA Part 46/48 training (or ability to obtain) and fit-for-duty requirements.
• Basic computer skills for electronic work orders, service reports, and time entry; ability to travel regularly within East Tennessee and surrounding region; including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, service, test, and commission Sandvik Eclipse or comparable fire suppression systems on mobile mining equipment.
• Diagnose and repair fire suppression faults, including loss-of-pressure and activation circuit issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, discharge testing, and post-discharge restoration; maintain accurate records.
• Complete field service reports, work orders, and time entries in Maximo and Dayforce.
• Provide operators with system familiarization and training; ensure compliance with NFPA/MSHA and customer contracts.
• Maintain tools and equipment; travel to customer sites; work safely and follow site rules.
