Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform hands-on mechanical service, inspection, maintenance, and repair of power equipment in electrical substations across customer sites in the United States. This field-based role requires adaptability, coordination with site leaders, and precise documentation to ensure safe, reliable operation of power systems.

The position is based in Santa Fe Springs, California, and involves frequent travel.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with minimum 2 years of professional work experience.
• Experience performing mechanical work in industrial or field environments.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work (lifting, climbing, standing, bending, walking).
• Valid driver’s license with availability to travel up to 85%.
• Class A CDL and welding experience are beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical service work on electrical equipment located in substations.
• Inspect equipment and identify defects or causes of issues at job sites.
• Service, repair, and adjust mechanical components of power equipment.
• Review equipment conditions and data to determine corrective actions.
• Operate and maintain oil processing and handling equipment under site direction.
