Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. seeks a Field Service Technician to perform hands-on mechanical work at electrical substations and customer sites across the US. You will inspect, service, repair, and optimize transformer-related equipment while traveling up to 85% with a team of experienced field professionals.

Responsibilities include supporting transformer testing, operating oil-handling systems, and ensuring safety and quality on site. A strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to travel are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and at least 2 years of professional work experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 85%.
• Class A CDL is a plus.
• Welding experience is a plus.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to climb ladders and stand, stoop, bend, and walk for long shifts.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on mechanical work in electrical substations and at customer sites.
• Inspect equipment, structures, and materials to identify defects or issues.
• Service, repair, and adjust equipment that operates primarily through mechanical principles.
• Analyze information and evaluate results to determine solutions for customer issues.
• Perform physical activities requiring dexterity, agility, and safety awareness.
• Use computers to configure functions, enter data, and process site activity information.
• Operate and maintain Vacuum Oil Processors (VOPs) and oil-handling equipment with logs.
• Support transformer testing activities and collaborate with field teams to complete projects.
