Job summary

GEA Group in the United States seeks a skilled Field Service Technician specializing in Horizontal Packaging Equipment to service customers in the Western region. The role requires extensive travel (up to 90%), strong electro-mechanical skills, and the ability to install, troubleshoot, and repair packaging lines.

You will support operators, train staff, and ensure compliance with safety standards while delivering excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• 5 years hands-on technical experience on electro-mechanical systems for industrial machinery.
• Experience with Vacuum systems and packaging equipment; high-speed vacuum and gassing applications; thermoforming plastics (FFS).
• Installation and commissioning of complete production lines and packaging systems.
• Strong electrical aptitude including motors, AC & servo drives, PLC/PC control.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with pneumatics and hydraulics; troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems.
• Excellent communications in English; customer-service oriented; able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Conduct machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs and scheduled maintenance on equipment.
• Offer technical support to customers, troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair.
• Provide training to customers' operators and maintenance personnel.
• Comply with OSHA safety and health rules.
