Job summary

GEA Group is seeking a Field Service Technician specializing in Horizontal Packaging Equipment to cover the Western region of the United States. This on-site role requires extensive travel (up to 90%) and hands-on electro-mechanical expertise on state-of-the-art industrial packaging systems.

You will install, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment, provide customer training, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years hands-on experience with electro-mechanical industrial machinery.
  • Experience with vacuum systems, high-speed packaging, and thermoforming processes.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, PLC and drive systems knowledge.
  • Experience in installation and commissioning of production lines.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities; customer-focused.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Perform emergency and scheduled repairs of packaging equipment.
  • Provide technical support to customers and resolve issues.
  • Train customers’ operators and maintenance staff.
  • Adhere to OSHA safety and health regulations.

We are currently searching for a skilled Field Service Technician who specializes in Horizontal Packaging Equipment and resides within the Western region of the US.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance service undefined
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment
  • Provides technical support to customers including troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair of machines
  • Provides training of customers’ operators and maintenance personnel
  • Complies with OSHA Safety and Health rules
Profile & Qualifications
  • 5 years hands-on technical experience on electro-mechanical systems as applied to state-of-the-art industrial machinery.
  • Experience with Vacuum systems and packaging equipment, high speed vacuum and gassing applications and thermoforming plastics with FFS applications REQUIRED.
  • Experience with installation and commissioning of complete production lines and packaging systems equipment.
  • Strong electrical aptitude, including motors, AC & servo drives, electrical circuitry, PLC and PC based control systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude including power transmission systems, pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Experienced troubleshooter on electro-mechanical systems.
  • Excellent communications skills - must be proficient in English, have strong listening skills and enjoy working with people.
  • Strong customer service orientation with “do whatever it takes” attitude.
  • Able to multi-task and work under extreme pressure.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Excellent computer literacy including knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
  • Able to travel extensively (up to 90%) including weekends and on short notice.
  • Some travel may be for extended periods (up to 2 weeks).

The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $37.00 - $46.00 per hour.

GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States. The pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. You may be eligible for additional rewards, such as discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.
