Job summary

GEA Food Solutions North America Inc. is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician who specializes in Horizontal Packaging Equipment and resides within the Western region of the US.

The role focuses on hands-on setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance to support packaging lines. The position requires travel up to 90%, ability to train customers’ operators, and strong problem-solving with a customer-service mindset.

Qualifications

• 5 years hands-on technical experience on electro-mechanical systems in industrial machinery.
• Experience with Vacuum systems and packaging equipment, high speed vacuum and gassing applications and thermoforming plastics with FFS applications REQUIRED.
• Strong electrical aptitude including motors, AC & servo drives, electrical circuitry, PLC and PC based control systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude including power transmission systems, pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Excellent communications skills in English; strong listening and customer interaction.
• Ability to travel extensively (up to 90%), including weekends and short-notice assignments.

Responsibilities

We are currently searching for a skilled Field Service Technician who specializes in Horizontal Packaging Equipment and resides within the Western region of the US.

Profile And Qualifications

• Skills/Qualifications:
• 5 years hands‑on technical experience on electro‑mechanical systems as applied to state‑of‑the‑art industrial machinery
• Experience with Vacuum systems and packaging equipment, high speed vacuum and gassing applications and thermoforming plastics with FFS applications REQUIRED.
• Experience with installation and commissioning of complete production lines and packaging systems equipment.
• Strong electrical aptitude, including motors, AC & servo drives, electrical circuitry, PLC and PC based control systems
• Strong mechanical aptitude including power transmission systems, pneumatics and hydraulics
• Experienced troubleshooter on electro‑mechanical systems
• Excellent communications skills - must be proficient in English, have strong listening skills and enjoy working with people
• Strong customer service orientation with “do whatever it takes” attitude
• Able to multi‑task and work under extreme pressure
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Self‑motivated and highly organized
• Must be able to work independently
• Excellent computer literacy including knowledge of MS Word and Excel
• Able to travel extensively (up to 90%) including weekends and on short notice. Some travel may be for extended periods (up to 2 weeks).

The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $37.00 - $46.00 per hour. GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States.

The pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job‑related reasons. You may be eligible for additional rewards, such as discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.
