Basaran Grinder Corp. is a family-owned Americanmanufacturer of high-precision CNC grinding machines and automation systems. Weare seeking a hands-on Field Service Technician to install, troubleshoot,repair, and support our equipment while representing Basaran professionally atcustomer facilities.

Position summary

This role combines mechanical and electricaltroubleshooting, machine installation and commissioning, preventivemaintenance, and customer training. The technician works independently atcustomer sites with support from our engineering, controls, applications, andmanufacturing teams. Frequent travel is an essential part of the position,including extended customer-site assignments when required.

Key responsibilities

Machine installation and commissioning

Install, level, align, and commission CNC grinding machinesand related equipment. Confirm site readiness and coordinate utilityconnections and rigging with qualified personnel. Check machine geometry, axismotion, lubrication, coolant, guarding, and safety systems. Support factory andsite acceptance testing, production startup, customer handoff, and punch-listcompletion.

Troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, CNC, PLC, servo, drive,sensor, hydraulic, pneumatic, spindle, lubrication, and coolant-systemproblems. Inspect machine condition, identify root causes, replace or repaircomponents within authorized scope, and verify performance after repairs.Perform preventive maintenance, adjustments, calibration, and approvedupgrades. Coordinate complex issues with engineering rather than applyingtemporary fixes without approval.

Grinding performance and customer training

Work with applications and engineering to investigate partaccuracy, surface finish, vibration, wheel dressing, workholding, andgrinding-process concerns. Train customer operators and maintenance personnelin safe machine operation, routine maintenance, basic diagnostics, andrecommended spare parts. Explain findings and next steps clearly.

Service documentation and technical coordination

Prepare accurate service reports covering symptoms,diagnostic findings, work completed, parts used, test results, and open items.Maintain time and expense records, photographs, and relevant machine backups.Coordinate parts and follow-up work with the factory. Escalate safety concernsand recurring failures promptly, and share feedback that improves machinereliability and serviceability.

Factory support and safe work practices

When not traveling, support machine assembly, testing,troubleshooting, and service preparation at our Hauppauge facility. Maintaincompany tools, test equipment, and laptop readiness. Follow Basaran andcustomer safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and required protectiveequipment. Perform electrical work only when qualified and authorized; neverbypass safeguards. Back up machine data before approved software or parameterchanges.

Qualifications and work requirements

At least five years of hands-on experience with CNC machinetools, industrial automation, machine installation, field service, orcomparable capital equipment, or equivalent demonstrated capability. Strongmechanical and industrial electrical troubleshooting skills are required. CNCgrinding experience is strongly preferred.

Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics,hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams, and technical manuals. Working knowledge ofCNC controls, PLC diagnostics, servo systems, motors, drives, sensors, andindustrial electrical systems. Able to use meters, precision measuringinstruments, and diagnostic tools safely within training and authorization.

Able to plan assignments, work independently, prioritizedowntime, and follow through on unresolved issues. Clear written and verbalcommunication, accurate recordkeeping, dependable attendance, and professionalconduct at customer sites are essential. Must know when to seek engineeringsupport or stop work for a safety concern.

Able to perform the essential functions of the role, withreasonable accommodation, including standing, bending, crouching, kneeling, andaccessing industrial machinery. Material handling may involve items up to 50pounds; use mechanical aids or team assistance as needed for safe handling.Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.

Travel and scheduling requirements

Travel is required. Frequenttravel throughout the United States and Canada may reach 100% of the workweekduring installation, commissioning, or service periods. Extended stays atcustomer facilities may be necessary. Occasional additional internationaltravel may be required for service, training, or machine acceptance.

This is a field position based from Hauppauge, New York,with on-site factory support between assignments. Schedules depend on customerneeds and may include early starts, overtime, evening or weekend work, andurgent service response. Candidates must have a valid driver's license and avalid passport, or the ability to obtain one, for required travel.

Approved business travel expenses are covered in accordancewith company policy. The employee must maintain travel readiness and submittimely service, time, and expense documentation.

Preferred experience

FANUC or Siemens CNC controls, PLCs, servos, and drives; CNCgrinding and wheel-dressing systems; spindle diagnostics; coolant andfiltration equipment; machine leveling, alignment, and calibration; precisionmetrology; robotics, automation, gaging, and industrial networking. Experienceproviding remote troubleshooting, customer training, and field supportthroughout the United States and Canada is helpful. Relevant technicaleducation or apprenticeship training is also valued.

What success looks like

Machines are installed safely and handed over with openitems clearly tracked. Repairs restore reliable performance and address theunderlying cause. Customers receive clear communication and practical training.Service reports and backups are complete, follow-up items are closed, andlessons from the field are shared with the factory to reduce repeat problems.
