Job summary

Topcon Positioning Group is seeking a field-based technician to install and service machine control systems on heavy equipment across construction sites. This role emphasizes hands-on work outdoors and travel, with emphasis on delivering accurate, reliable solutions.

You will receive paid training, have opportunities to advance into senior technician or trainer roles, and build lasting relationships with customers while representing Topcon professionally.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or trade school preferred.
• Field experience with heavy equipment or construction machinery.
• Experience with machine control installations is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Install and service Topcon Machine Control systems on heavy equipment (dozers, graders, excavators, skid steers, pavers).
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, hydraulic and electrical systems to improve accuracy and performance.
• Provide on-site visits, phone, email and remote support to customers and sales teams.

What You’ll Do

• Install and service Topcon Machine Control systems on:
• Dozers
• Motor Graders
• Excavators
• Skid Steers
• Compactors
• Pavers and Curb Machines
• Troubleshoot complex hardware, software, hydraulic, and electronic systems to improve machine accuracy and performance
• Research and diagnose technical issues to identify effective solutions
• Provide pre-and post‑sale technical support for customers and sales teams via:
• On‑site visits
• Phone
• E-mail
• Remote support tools
• Represent the company professionally at customer job sites and build long‑term relationships
• Work outdoors in varied conditions: rain, heat, and cold are part of the job

What We’re Looking For

• Mechanical and technical aptitude
• Comfort troubleshooting electro‑mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems
• Customer‑first mindset with strong communication skills
• Quick learner who enjoys mastering new technology
• Intermediate computer skills (software navigation, diagnostics, documentation)
• Physically capable of:
• Climbing onto large equipment
• Lifting up to 75 pounds
• Willingness to travel as needed (travel fluctuates based on business demands)
• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or trade school preferred
• Field experience or prior work with:
• Heavy equipment
• Construction machinery
• Automotive, diesel, electrical, or mechanical systems
• Experience with machine control installations is a plus. but not required
• Willingness and aptitude to learn heavy equipment operation and advanced technology
