Job summary

Security 101 – Charleston is seeking a Commercial Security Service Technician to service and program commercial electronic security devices, including video systems, access control, and IP surveillance. The role requires hands-on work, on-site visits, and strong network troubleshooting skills.

Qualified candidates will have at least 3 years’ experience with access control, IP video systems, and intrusion alarms, plus a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience servicing and programming commercial access control, IP-based video systems and intrusion alarm systems.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience troubleshooting and programming networked access control and IP video systems on customer networks.
• Valid driver's license with clean MVR.
• Ability to work independently and resolve issues to customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, troubleshooting, programming, and testing enterprise security systems with minimal supervision.
• Set up diagnostics and troubleshoot on a LAN; familiarity with WireShark and network scanning tools.
• Integrate systems using manufacturer SDKs or APIs where applicable.
• Provide excellent customer service and support on-site and remotely when needed.

Security 101 – Charleston is now recruiting for a Commercial Security Service Technician that has experience servicing and programming commercial electronic security devices primarily Video Systems, Access Control devices and software, IP Cameras, Intrusion Detection, Video Analytics, IP network systems and overall commercial security systems.

The starting hourly wage ranges from $35.00 to $40.00, non-exempt, commensurate with skills, product knowledge and experience.

The Right Candidate:

• Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience servicing and programming commercial access control, IP-based video systems and intrusion alarm systems.
• Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in troubleshooting and programming networked access control and IP video systems, including working on the customer’s network.
• Alternative experience such as a multi-site Network Support Specialist or similar.
• Ability to support customer systems via remote diagnostics with professionalism.
• Knowledge and practical experience with the internet and networking is essential.
• Must be able to work independently and resolve problems to our customer’s satisfaction.
• Must possess a valid driving license and clean MVR.

Current certification or proficiency in one of the following is a plus:

• Access Control: Genetec, Software House, Lenel/S2, OpenPath.
• Video: Axis, Exacq, Milestone, Genetec, Avigilon, Hanwha, IPConfigure.

Responsibilities:

Servicing, troubleshooting, programming, and testing enterprise security systems with minimal supervision. System knowledge of access control, IP video surveillance, intrusion, and visitor management, as related to card access technology.

• Working knowledge that includes the ability to set up and perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on a LAN – familiar with tools like “WireShark” and other network scanning tools. Is a PLUS!
• Familiarization and working knowledge of integrating systems using a manufacturer’s Software Development Kit (SDK) or API. Is a PLUS![RH1]
• Troubleshooting and programming networked IP video systems.
• Troubleshooting and programming networked access control devices.
• Servicing commercial intrusion alarm systems and other IoT connected systems.
• Providing fanatical customer service when dealing with customers.

Education:

• High School (or GED) minimum requirement
• Electronics training from a Technical School or Military training in electronics or communications (preferred)

Security 101 is a DFWP and EOE organization with a team-oriented work environment. Must have a clean driving record; pass a background investigation and a drug-test screening. Must also be able to work in both office and outside environments, climb a ladder, use a forklift, and carry boxes weighing 50lbs.
