Job summary

Serac is seeking a Field Service Technician II to own installs, startups, and repairs on cup‑filling and fill‑seal systems at customer sites across North and South America, with occasional international trips.

Based in Boise, Idaho, you will travel to sites, commissioning new and rebuilt machinery, diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, and delivering hands‑on training to operators while ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or hands-on experience in Electronic Technology or related field.

Responsibilities

• Commission new and rebuilt cup-filling, fill-seal, capping, and packaging machinery at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and control issues and fix them quickly.
• Read, modify, and debug PLC logic (Allen-Bradley preferred; Siemens a bonus).
• Coach operators and maintenance crews on site; run trials and handle format changes.
• Perform preventive maintenance and equipment upgrades as needed.
• Write clear service reports and relay root-cause findings to engineering.

Serac is growing our Boise-area field service team, and we're looking for one hands‑on technician to own installs, startups, and repairs on our cup‑filling and fill‑seal equipment out in the field.

The Job in a Nutshell

As a Field Service Technician II, you'll be the person our customers count on when a cup filler, fill‑seal system, liquid filler, capper, or packaging line needs to go live — or needs to get running again. You'll travel to sites across North and South America (with the occasional international trip) to commission new machines, chase down tough electrical and mechanical faults, and get production back up with minimal downtime. It's a road‑heavy, problem‑solver's role for someone who already knows their way around cup‑filling and fill‑seal gear

Commissioning: Set up and start new and rebuilt cup‑filling, fill‑seal, capping, and packaging machinery at customer plants

Troubleshooting: Track down electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and controls issues and fix them fast

Controls work: Read, modify, and debug PLC logic as needed - Allen‑Bradley primary, Siemens a bonus

On‑site customer support: Coach operators and maintenance crews, run trials, and handle format and cup‑size changeovers

Reliability: Carry out preventive maintenance, inspections, and equipment upgrades

Reporting: Write clear service reports and feed root‑cause findings back to our engineering group

Teamwork: Partner with Electrical Engineering, Project Teams, and our Global Service network

Direct cup‑filling and fill‑seal experience (dairy, food, or cup fill‑seal machinery is a big plus)

A field service background with an OEM or machine builder on filling, capping, or packaging equipment

Real hands‑on Allen‑Bradley PLC troubleshooting and logic edits (Siemens welcome)

Solid electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills, including pneumatics and controls

Comfort working solo at customer sites and training their people

Associate degree in Electronic Technology or a related field - or equivalent hands‑on experience in place of the degree.

Home base in the Boise, Idaho area

Short‑notice trips, weekend work, and extended stays on site

Valid driver's license required

Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in industrial plant conditions
