Job summary

BearCom is seeking a Field Service Technician II in the United States, Michigan, Troy area to install and support wireless communications systems. You will build codeplugs, install equipment, and ensure service integrity while delivering exceptional customer support.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of field experience with Motorola/Kenwood/ICOM/Vertex systems, strong RF theory, and proficiency with test equipment and DAS/BDA designs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Service Technician experience diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex equipment in 2-way radio wireless field.
• Strong understanding of 2-way radio theory and RF propagation across bands.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Knowledge of battery backup systems, base stations, repeaters, multicouplers, duplexers, TCP/IP.
• Proficient in test equipment: spectrum analyzers, watt meters, TDRs, FDRs, multimeters.
• Experience with DAS/BDA systems design, troubleshooting, and installation.
• MS Office (Word, Excel) proficiency.
• Journeyman level to be attained within 6 months.
• Associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent.
• CET/ Astro certifications; Astro 25 product certifications advantageous.
• Knowledge of audio, RF, digital, microprocessor circuits in comms gear.
• Valid driver's license; drug screen and background checks required.

Responsibilities

• Install and service wireless communications equipment including UHF/VHF, 800/900 MHz systems, dispatch consoles, DAS/BDA, CCTV.
• Create mid-level programming codeplugs (12+ channels, trunking, multiple zones).
• Recommend equipment and hardware that meet customer requirements.
• Perform regional/overnight travel and on-call hours as needed.
