JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for providing professional service and support for Huber Technology customers by performing field service installations, start-up, repair, and maintenance of HUBER wastewater equipment. The Field Service Specialist, Industrial-Mechanical Repair Emphasis, will work within the guidelines established by the Director of Service and/or President and will follow established procedures when representing Huber Technology.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following list outlines the essential duties and responsibilities of a Field Service Specialist: (Other duties may be assigned)
- Install, calibrate, configure, test, maintain, evaluate, troubleshoot, pre-commission, commission, and repair wastewater equipment manufactured by Huber Technology, including pumps, motors, valves, polymer stations, etc.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance or repairs of equipment and associated components.
- Assist with the installation of equipment at customer sites and provide pre-installation support.
- Review blueprints, plans, specifications, and customer documentation to prepare for startup or service.
- Conduct on-site training for customer personnel according to Huber Technology standards.
- Build and maintain professional customer relationships through effective communication and service, providing onsite and telephone support.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, spare parts, and management teams to resolve escalated issues.
- Provide detailed reports to the Director of Service on all on-site activities and complete all required documentation promptly.
- Submit expense reports for all on-site expenses in a timely manner.
- Make technical recommendations to maintenance technicians and treatment plant operators.
- Coordinate with the Director of Service, Aftermarket Sales Team, and Operations Team to ensure timely and organized site work completion.
- Adhere to safe working practices on site and report safety breaches to the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator or the Director of Service.
- Participate in additional technical activities as assigned by the Director of Service.
- Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are maintained in a safe, secure, and functional condition.
- Assist in manufacturing or engineering projects, including unit refurbishment or replacement at customer sites or Huber facilities.
- Properly document and label defective parts used in repairs and return them appropriately.
- Educate customers on basic operation of their equipment.
- Assist the parts department with spare parts recommendations.
- Perform welding activities as required in the shop and/or customer sites.
- Maintain valid travel, medical, and related documentation and inform the Field Service Manager of any needs for renewal.
- Provide troubleshooting support via phone and in the field.
- Assist customers with application and process-related issues both remotely and onsite.
- Support warranty and non-warranty issue identification in collaboration with relevant teams.
- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct in all interactions.
- Ensure all documentation is current and accurate.
- Wear company-provided uniforms and maintain a professional appearance at all times.
- Provide technical support to other Field Service Specialists.
- Follow all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
- Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Service Manager or Director of Service.
III. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- An Associate’s Degree in a technical field or equivalent mechanical-industrial repair/service work experience, minimum 1-2 years in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Wastewater experience is a plus.
IV. ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Develop high-level customer service skills and respond quickly to service calls with effective time management.
- Motivated, fast-paced, with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently once trained/onboarded.
- Physical ability to perform job requirements.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and oral communication in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Proficient in computer use for report writing and documentation.
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License and pass a DOT physical; CDL is not required.
- Ability to operate a forklift or willingness to be trained.
- Ability to travel extensively (up to 100%) across the US and Canada.
- Maintain company equipment, tools, and fleet vehicles according to policies.
- Candidates must reside near a major airport.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands include moderate to heavy physical activity, exposure to various environments, lifting up to 50+ pounds, standing, reaching, bending, and other physical activities necessary for the role. Good hearing and vision are essential for safety. Attendance and punctuality are critical due to travel and scheduling requirements. Safety precautions must be followed, especially in wastewater environments.
Pre-Hire Requirements: Ability to pass drug testing, background checks, and I-9 verification. HUBER is an E-Verify employer.
