Job summary

Ultima Genomics is seeking a Field Service Engineer II based in Phoenix, AZ, to provide on-site service for company instrumentation and support customers in the region. The role includes installation, operation of instruments, and managing lab inventories, with travel up to 20%.

Ideal candidates will have a BS in a scientific or engineering field and 2–5 years in biotech or capital equipment field service, plus strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.

Qualifications

• BS in scientific or engineering field required.
• 2–5 years of relevant engineering or field service experience in biotech or capital equipment.
• Experience in electro-mechanical assembly and instrumentation troubleshooting.
• Ability to read electrical, wiring, fluidic, and mechanical schematics.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% and hold a US driver''s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site service to customers in the Phoenix area, including repair and installation of company instrumentation.
• Operate instruments when needed and manage lab inventories.
• Review technical reports and communicate root cause and timelines to customers.
• Maintain records of tool configurations pertaining to hardware, software, consumables, and application releases.
• Manage customer interface with R&D groups and maintain credibility in our product.
• Exceed customer expectations of service and support during development.
• Summarize issues to development engineers for root-cause analysis.
• Other duties as assigned.
