Job summary

Illumina in Houston, TX is seeking an Onsite Field Service Engineer to install, diagnose, troubleshoot and repair complex Illumina instrumentation on customer sites. You will manage installations, provide technical support, and ensure high instrument uptime while building strong customer relationships.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and 2–6 years of related experience, knowledge of Windows networking, and hands-on experience with robotics, optical alignments, and electrical/electronics.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2–6 years of related experience; advanced degree accepted.
• Experience servicing Illumina platforms or similar instrumentation preferred.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
• Knowledge of field optical alignments, robotics, electrical/electronics, and mechanical systems.
• Technical knowledge of computer hardware, Windows OS, and networking.

Responsibilities

• Proficient at installation, repair and maintenance of Illumina platforms.
• Troubleshoot a wide variety of complex customer reported problems.
• Proactively monitor, schedule, and prioritize tasks to maximize instrument uptime.
• Manage post repair/install validation runs and SFDC case management.
• Lead regular meetings with site personnel reporting metrics related to instrument performance.
