Job summary

CBRE in Cambridge, MA is seeking an experienced instrumentation service specialist to maximize lifecycle cost efficiency for high-end lab equipment. The role is fully onsite, Monday–Friday, with a company-owned vehicle provided.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced troubleshooting on specialty equipment and systems.
• Provide instrument calibration and qualification services.
• Lead installation, calibration, repair and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Develop methods and procedures for service of specialized instrumentation.
• Coordinate with clients and contractors to ensure contractual obligations.
• Document inspections and maintenance activities in approved logs.
• Train staff on specialized instrumentation and techniques.

About this role

Maximizes the cost value proposition of high-end laboratory instrumentation byanalyzing direct support services, vendor delivered services, and partmanagement in relation to the life cycle cost of the instrument portfolio.

This isa fully onsite role Monday-Friday in Cambridge, MA. A company-owned vehiclewill be provided.

What you’ll do

Performs advanced-level, scheduled and unscheduled troubleshooting/services onspecialty equipment, instruments, and systems specific to the pharmaceuticalresearch & development industry.

Product line support: Agilent, Waters, Thermo Scientific. Chromatographyexperience is a must.

Possesses the in-depth technical knowledge required for performing complex,analytical service procedures, instrument qualifications, and calibrationtasks.

Assists the supervisor in monitoring and scheduling operations of techniciansresponsible for installing, calibrating, repairing, and performing preventivemaintenance on electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical instrumentationaccording to client specifications.

Develops methods and procedures pertaining to service and calibration ofspecialized instrumentation.

Monitors instrument and part reliability; makes alternate service, supplier andparts recommendations.

Provides manager and client guidance regarding platform reliability andreplacement, based on LCAM and RCM principles.

Organizes work processes and leads project assignments forinstrumentation/calibration staff in order to fulfill contractual obligationsto the client.

Reinstalls, tests, evaluates, calibrates, and maintains instruments or devicesupon completion of repairs.

Documents daily records of inspections, maintenance activity, repairs, andother work performed within approved guidelines and procedures.

Communicates with customer staff and outside contractors in the calibration,repair, and operation of equipment, as necessary. Coordinates with outsidecontractors regarding repairs covered by maintenance agreements.

Provides detailed technical training and orientation to staff and colleagues onspecialized instrumentation or techniques.

Performs other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree required. Minimum oftwo years of related experience and/or training. Degree preferred in scientificfield of study preferred or equivalent related work experience.

Seven years of experience in instrumentation and control or installing,calibrating, maintaining and repairing equipment or equivalent experience.

Previous experience in pharmaceutical research and development industryincluding the making of chemical standards using appropriate techniques forweighing, pipetting, mixing, diluting, and verifying concentrations.

The compensation range is about $140,000 to $160,000 annual base salary depending on experience. The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications and experience.
