Job summary

Onto Innovation in Hillsboro, OR seeks a Field Service Engineer to install, diagnose, service, and repair complex metrology systems on site at customer sites. You will verify system performance against specs and train customers on operation.

Travel is heavy (50–75%), candidates with metrology tool experience and semiconductor background are preferred. Proficiency in Windows/Linux and troubleshooting tools is required, along with a proactive, self-driven approach.

Qualifications

B.S. in Electronics, Systems Engineering, Materials Science or Analytical Chemistry.
Undergraduate degree / vocational certificate in above domains with 3 years of experience.
Willingness to travel 50% to 75%.
Metrology tool experience, operation or field service support is a plus.
Preferred experience in the semiconductor field.
Proficient English is a must.
Familiar with Windows, Microsoft Office and/or Linux.
Proficient in using handy tooling, DVM and other troubleshooting gears.
Self-motivated, proactive and process-oriented.

Responsibilities

Provides on-site installation, diagnosis, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems.
Checks operational quality of system equipment against Onto specifications.
Instructs customers in operation of the system.
Serves as company liaison with customers on administrative and technical matters.
Interprets customer needs and clarifies responsibility for problem resolution.
Field support across hardware, software, PCs and networking as needed.
