Field Service Engineer - Data Center Servers

Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a Data Center Service Engineer to perform fieldwork at customer sites, resolving server system issues and supporting the Global Service network. This role is based in Quincy, WA and requires strong technical aptitude and excellent interpersonal skills.

You will troubleshoot on-site and remotely, lead preventive maintenance actions, and collaborate with TAM, Service Manager, and Product Manager to shape service programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or equivalent work experience preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years in field support for complex X86 systems and parts.
• Associate degree in electrical tech/electronics or equivalent military experience considered.
• Experience with servers (Supermicro, EMC, DELL, HP) a plus.
• Strong diagnostics of hardware, BIOS and drivers impact on systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication, and project management skills.
• Proficient in English (read/write/speak).
• Linux familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• On-site and remote troubleshooting of Supermicro equipment in enterprise environments.
• Lead preventive maintenance and manage repair/parts cycles to drive satisfaction.
• Manage escalation situations quickly and professionally.
• Provide 2nd line support to resellers/distributors.
• Develop service programs with TAM, Service Manager, and Product Manager.
• Generate fault triage data and training materials.
• Run tests and simulations to assist problem-solving.
• Travel to field sites to train and resolve issues.
• Train new service engineers and take ownership of customer base.
