Job summary

Sterling FabTech is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our team, delivering on-site installation, commissioning and post-installation support for CNC machine tools across our customer base in East Texas. You will work with a range of equipment including lasers, presses, welders, punches, printers, plasma cutters, and automation systems.

After onboarding, you will troubleshoot, repair, and train customers while coordinating with sales and service teams.

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, controls, and network systems.
• Proficient in reading blueprints and electrical schematics with precision.
• Excellent communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Capable of working independently and managing installations, repairs, and documentation.
• Demonstrates integrity, innovation, and customer-centric approach.

Responsibilities

• Support the overall technical needs of customers and the sales team.
• Provide facility requirements for successful machine installations and assist site prep.
• Be on-site for machine deliveries to ensure condition and placement.
• Install machines and accessories, including assembly, leveling, aligning, wiring and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, software and other equipment.
• Provide training to customers on functions and proper use of equipment.
• Visit existing customers to ensure satisfaction post-installation.

About the job:

• We are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our team and assist with the technical support, installation and repairs / technical service ofCNC Machine Tools for our customers.

• These machines include 2D and 3D Lasers, Press Brakes, Automatic Laser Welders, Punches, 3D Printers, Plasma Cutters, Plate Rolls, Automation/Material Handling systemsand similar equipment.

• After a thorough technical onboarding and training program, you will:

  • Support theoveralltechnical needs of our customers and sales team.

  • Provide customers with the details on facility requirements needed to successfully install machines they purchase and assist in the preparation of the installation site.

  • Be on-site for machine deliveries to ensure equipment condition and proper placement.

  • Install machines and accessories at customer sites, including all necessary assembly, leveling, aligning, adjusting, calibrating, wiring, and commissioning of machines and accessories.

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, software and other equipment.

  • Provide training to customers on functions and proper use of equipment and accessories.

  • Visit existing customers to ensure they are satisfied with machine tools after installation.

• You have demonstratedexperience in troubleshooting and repairing various systems including mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, controls, and network systems.

• You are proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics with precision, ensuring accurate execution of machine installations and repairs.

• You have excellent communication skills enabling effective interaction with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of technical requirements and providing exceptional customer support.

• You are capable of working independently, taking initiative in problem-solving, and efficiently managing tasks such as machine installations, repairs, reporting and technical documentation, while maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism.

Job Requirements:

• You are located in East Texas. Although this is technically a remote position, you must live one of theseareas as that is the primary territory you will be working in.

• You have experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, controls and/or network systems.

• You are able to precisely read and follow blueprints and electrical schematics.

• You maintaina positive, professional attitude along withthe ability to communicate in a professional manner with both technical and non-technical individuals.You will occasionally interface with clients at the management level, and our manufacturers are global suppliers; therefore, a high level of professionalism is expected.

• Are a highly motivated, self-starter that takes initiative and works well independently and with others.

• Up to 90% travel may be required for this position.
