Job summary

Hurco Companies, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support customers by installing, commissioning, inspecting and servicing machines. You will travel regularly by car and air; a company car is provided and most weekends are at home.

You will partner with distributors, document service activities, train customers, and deliver timely remote support from the Indianapolis office. The role requires strong mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of technical school or equivalent work experience in mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical systems maintenance and repair.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
• Process oriented with travel and expense reporting responsibilities.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Pre-installation review with customer before shipping a new machine.
• Oversee machine installation at the customer facility.
• Inspect, adjust and start up newly installed machines; ensure spec compliance.
• Provide warranty and non-warranty service including maintenance, repair and training.
• Visit customers to assess needs and suggest accessories, parts, or services.
• Support local Hurco distributors with technical aid and collaboration.
• Complete service, inspection, time and expense reports accurately.
• Provide remote technical support via phone and email from Indianapolis office.

Hurco Companies, Inc. is looking for a Field Service Engineer to join our team. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be the go-to person who provides vital assistance to customers when they need it most. You will be responsible for ensuring our customers are ready to go as soon as their brand-new machine arrives. Regular travel by car and air is required for this position and a company car is provided. You will be home almost all weekends. When not traveling to customer locations, the Field Service Engineer will provide phone assistance.

Hurco's corporate headquarters is located in Indianapolis, Indiana and travel will also be required to our home office, however the ideal candidate doesn't have to be located in Indianapolis, but rather near a major airport location.

Responsibilities

• Pre-installation review: before shipping a new machine, review installation recommendations and processes with the customer.
• Machine Installation: oversee the assembly of machines at the customer’s facility.
• Inspection and demonstration: inspect, adjust, and start up newly installed machines. Make recommendations as needed to ensure proper specification compliance. Demonstrate safe setup, operation, and maintenance protocols.
• Maintenance and Repair:Provide warranty and non-warranty service including problem identification, maintenance, repair services, and training as required. Recommend parts, accessories, and labor to maintain equipment safety and to achieve operational efficiency.
• Customer Service Management: Regularly visit assigned customers to observe machine operation, identify service needs, and suggest appropriate accessories, parts, or services to meet customer requirements.
• Distributor support: Develop and nurture relationships with local Hurco Machine Tool Distributors, providing them with technical support and collaborating with them to deliver exceptional service to customers.
• Reporting and Documentation: Follow established procedures to complete service reports, inspection reports, time reports, and expense reports accurately and within specified time frames.
• Technical Support: Provide remote technical support to distributors, customers, and other field service engineers via phone and email from our Indianapolis office.

Requirements

• 3+ years of technical school or equivalent work experience in mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electrical systems maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of troubleshooting and maintenance of industrial automation equipment.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
• Process oriented, able to complete necessary travel and expense reports.
