A Townsend Building Supply (a division of Carter Lumber) is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to identify sales opportunities with local contractors and complete sales, primarily through direct outreach, site visits, and offering product knowledge.

The role emphasizes sales growth, customer relationship development, timely follow-ups, and strong communication to support project needs and scheduling commitments.

Qualifications

• Previous experience selling building materials to contractors.
• Previous knowledge and experience in the building materials industry.
• Demonstrated ability to increase sales and improve profitability.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and understand construction practices.
• Ability to participate effectively as a team member.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Identify target customers and increase market share.
• Collect and update information on customers' product use and trends.
• Sell building materials and installed sales services to contractors.
• Determine appropriate credit programs based on customer needs.
• Meet or exceed sales and profit goals by following leads and market trends.
• Ensure customer satisfaction by coordinating take-offs, scheduling and delivery commitments.
