A Townsend Building Supply (a division of Carter Lumber) Outside Sales Representative is responsible for finding sales opportunities and completing sales primarily with local contractors. This role emphasizes building materials knowledge, blueprint reading, and strong communication to meet sales goals.

The position requires teamwork, sales growth, and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, to support contractor projects and deliveries.

Qualifications

• Experience selling building materials to contractors.
• Knowledge of the building materials industry.
• Ability to read andinterpret blueprints; understanding construction practices.
• Demonstrated ability to increase sales and profitability.
• Ability to work well in a team and handle a flexible schedule including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Identify target customers and grow market share.
• Collect up-to-date information on customers’ product use and trends.
• Sell building materials and installed services to contractors.
• Determine appropriate credit terms based on customer needs.
• Meet or exceed sales and profit goals through leads, market monitoring and reputation building.
• Ensure customer satisfaction with take-offs, scheduling and delivery communications.
• Maintain open lines of communication between store team and customers.
