Job summary

Graybar Electric Company is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to build new prospects and maintain key customers, with regular on-site visits and product demonstrations as needed.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years in the industry, with 4+ years preferred, and a 4-year degree preferred. Expect extensive travel and a compensation package including a base salary with incentive eligibility, plus a rich benefits program.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years industry-specific experience required; 4+ years experience preferred.
• 4 year degree preferred.
• Knowledge of business administration, sales, and marketing.
• Negotiation skills.
• Ability to learn our business and to work independently to achieve goals.
• Ability to sell and be persuasive.
• Extensive travel required, including some overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed the annual gross margin budget by promoting and selling products in the assigned territory in compliance with pricing policies.
• Handle customer complaints promptly and report potential claims.
• Report on local competition and market conditions to management.
• Carry out sales and merchandise programs as directed; recommend new items for stock.
• Maintain current customer records, files, and reports; assist in collections of past due accounts.
• Participate in training sessions, trade shows, and sales meetings as requested.
• Demonstrate products after sale when necessary.
