Job summary

Kiewit in Bagdad, AZ is seeking a Safety Specialist to implement and audit the Site Specific Safety Plan, supporting compliance with MSHA and corporate safety manuals. You will report to the Project Safety Manager and help ensure safe work practices on site.

You will lead daily safety activities, conduct hazard assessments, assist with incident investigations, and maintain project safety documentation across diverse industrial projects. This role requires willingness to relocate as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or related field.
• 3+ years construction safety experience.
• Knowledge of construction or mine safety and MSHA requirements.
• Safety Professional certification or EMT preferred.
• Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel) and basic computer use.
• Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; detail oriented.
• Ability to access all points of a Mine site in varied environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, reviewing, updating, and communicating the SSSP to subcontractors.
• Collaborate with the craft daily to promote safety program buy-in and ownership.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to enforce policies and plans.
• Plan, prioritize, and problem-solve with operations using leading indicators.
• Provide safety training on policies, MSHA orientation, and client requirements.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain project files in MSHA compliance and accident/injury records.
• Complete hazard inspections and support corrective actions with teams.
