Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist to develop, implement and audit the Site Specific Safety Plan at a major industrial project. You will work closely with the Project Safety Manager, supervise daily safety activities in the field, and ensure compliance with OSHA/MSHA regulations while supporting continuous improvement.

The role requires 0–2 years of construction safety experience, travel/relocation as needed, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal OSHA requirements.
• OSHA 30 certification and EMT is preferred.
• 0–2 years of construction safety experience.
• Willing to travel and relocate as required.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel; strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development, review, updating, and communication of the Site Specific Safety Plan to subcontractors and the site team.
• Collaborate with craft daily to encourage buy-in of the safety program and ownership by the workforce.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to ensure adherence to policies and work plans.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations in the field based on leading indicator trends and upcoming work.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, and client requirements.
• Maintain project files in OSHA/MSHA compliance and assist with incident investigations.
