Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an Entry Level Safety Specialist to support and audit Site Specific Safety Plans in field operations. You will help enforce safety standards, coordinate with crews, and assist with incident investigations while aligning with OSHA, MSHA, and client requirements.

Your role involves daily collaboration with operations, providing training, and maintaining documentation to support a safe work environment across projects in the Eastern District.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30, 500 and 510 certifications.
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements.
• Professional safety certification or EMT preferred.
• Proficient with MS Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and communicate the Site Specific Safety Plan to subcontractors.
• Collaborate with the craft daily to promote safety program buy-in.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to enforce policies and plans.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations using leading indicator trends.
• Support incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain project files in OSHA/MSHA compliance.
• Assist with first aid and coordinate EMS/clinics relationships.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS and client needs.
• Review work plans prior to start of work and ensure readiness.
