Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist to create, support, and audit safety programs across projects in the Eastern District. You will work with field teams to drive safety ownership, enforce policies, and conduct hazard assessments.

Responsibilities include incident investigations, daily hazard inspections, and delivering training on safety procedures. Strong OSHA knowledge and ability to work across locations are essential.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30, 500 and 510 certifications are required or preferred.
• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, Public Health or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements.
• Certification as Safety Professional or EMT preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development, review, updating, and communication of the SSSP to all parties including subcontractors.
• Collaborate with craft daily to promote safety program buy-in and ownership.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibilities to ensure adherence to policies and plans.
• Plan and prioritize with operations based on leading indicators and upcoming work.
• Assist with incident investigations and implement effective solutions.
• Maintain project files in OSHA/MSHA compliance and accident/injury files.
• Provide safety training on policies, OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, and client requirements.
