Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist to develop, support, and audit safety programs across field operations. You will report to the Project Safety Manager and help implement the Site Specific Safety Plan while aligning with contract and client safety expectations.

You will verify work is performed safely, assist with corrective actions, and support incident investigations to improve on-site safety performance. This role requires travel and relocation as needed.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field preferred.
• 0-2 years construction safety experience.
• OSHA 30 and First Aid CPR preferred.
• Willingness to travel and relocate as required.
• Knowledge of construction safety, OSHA requirements, and MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, reviewing, updating, and communicating the Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP).
• Collaborate with craft daily to promote safety program buy-in.
• Exercise Stop Work Responsibility to enforce policies and plans.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations using leading indicators.
• Provide safety training on OSHA/MSHA, NCCER, SIMS, and client requirements.
