Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Specialist I to support and audit our safety programs on a major project. The role involves developing, updating and communicating the Site Safety and Health Plan (SSSP) and collaborating with craft teams to drive safety ownership.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in construction safety, a degree in safety or related field, and willingness to travel/relocate. Travel and site presence are required for 2-3 year project assignments.

Qualifications

• Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field is preferred.
• 3+ years of construction safety experience.
• Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements.
• Certification as Safety Professional or EMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, reviewing, updating and communicating the SSSP to stakeholders and subcontractors.
• Collaborate daily with craft to promote safety program buy-in.
• Enforce Stop Work and ensure adherence to policies and plans.
• Plan and problem-solve with operations based on leading indicators.
• Maintain project files per OSHA/MSHA regulations and policies.
