Job summary

Thompson Construction Group, Inc. is seeking Safety Managers for various projects across the Southeast and central United States. Travel and relocation are required, with per diem eligible where applicable.

You will ensure safety programs meet OSHA, state, and federal requirements and lead efforts to reduce injuries and losses. You will develop and implement safety policies, conduct audits, investigations, training, and site visits, partnering with project teams to foster a strong safety culture

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of field experience.
• Must read, write and communicate clearly with supervisor and coworkers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Office, Excel, PowerPoint).
• OSHA 30 completed; OSHA 500 preferred.
• MSHA and HAZWOPER certifications may be required.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varied environments.

Responsibilities

• Observe job performance for hazards and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Identify conditions causing accidents and communicate improvements.
• Conduct post-accident investigations and recommend preventions.
• Assist management on accident documentation and light duty cases.
• Plan and coordinate safety programs to reduce injuries and losses.
• Develop SOPs and safety policies for the company.
• Maintain safety statistics and audit data, and track trends.
• Conduct safety training and new-hire orientations.
• Visit work sites weekly for audits and hazard abatement.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment for safety and road worthiness.
• Assist in pre-job/shutdown planning with the Project Manager.
• Engage with crews and customers to foster safety and improvements.
• Attend customer safety meetings and enforce policy.
• Other duties as assigned.
