Job summary

West Penn Heavy Haul LLC is seeking a Field Safety Advisor to support heavy haul transportation and rig moving operations across the Appalachian Basin. This field-based role emphasizes hands-on safety work with employees and operations teams on-site.

The ideal candidate brings experience in heavy haul or related industries and knowledge of FMCSA/DOT regulations, load securement, and rigging. Will travel frequently, conduct safety training, and partner with leadership to drive safety improvements.

Qualifications

• Experience in field safety for heavy haul or related industries.
• Knowledge of FMCSA/DOT compliance and industry standards.
• Ability to lead safety audits and investigations in the field.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safety presence across heavy haul/rig moving operations.
• Conduct field audits, inspections, observations, and coaching.
• Work with drivers, riggers, operators, and supervisors to reinforce safe practices.
• Monitor compliance with FMCSA/DOT OSHA and customer requirements.
• Lead pre-job planning, JSAs, tailgate meetings, and safety meetings.
• Investigate incidents and support corrective actions and safety trends.
• Maintain safety records, training documentation and compliance files.
• Provide safety training and coaching to staff and new hires.
• Collaborate with Operations, Dispatch, HR and leadership on safety improvements.

Skills

Safety experience with heavy haul/tru

FMCSA/DOT regulations knowledge

Load securement/oversize transport

Rigging and crane support

Audits, observations, investigations

Strong communication and coaching

Travel readiness

MS Office & safety reporting systems

Valid driver’s license

Education

OSHA 30

First Aid/CPR

CHST or CSP certification
