Job summary

Fisher Industries is seeking a Boarder Wall Site Safety Specialist to support our heavy civil construction projects in the Tempe, AZ area. You will maintain on-site safety, conduct inspections, lead JHAs/JSAs, and ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and EM 385-1-1 standards while coordinating with project teams.

The role requires a minimum of 2 years safety experience, knowledge of federal regulations, and the ability to train crews, administer safety plans, and promote a proactive safety culture

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of safety experience in heavy civil construction, aggregate, mining, or related field operations.
• Working knowledge of OSHA 1926, OSHA 1910, MSHA Part 46 or Part 48, and applicable site-specific safety requirements.
• OSHA 30-hour Construction, First Aid, and CPR certifications preferred; Fisher will provide training if needed.
• Competent person training in fall protection, excavation, confined space, and lockout/tagout preferred; Fisher will provide training if needed.
• Must meet EM 385-1-1 SSHO requirements when assigned to projects where EM 385-1-1 applies; Fisher will provide training if needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible field presence and identify hazards before incidents occur.
• Lead Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
• Support and verify permits and high-risk work controls (hot work, confined space, excavation, blasting, lift plans).
• Evaluate high-risk tasks and recommend hierarchy of controls.
• Conduct inspections, audits, incident investigations, and equipment inspections with corrective actions.
• Partner with Project Managers and site leadership to interpret safety requirements and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and conduct onsite worker training on applicable safety laws, company requirements, and hazard recognition.
• Implement site-specific safety plans and emergency response programs.
• Monitor contractor compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and site safety requirements.
• Deliver training such as new hire orientation and site-specific safety training when applicable.
