Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to support transportation construction projects across multiple locations in the United States. The role involves inspecting traffic control, environmental measures, layout, and construction methods, under supervision, to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, along with relevant certifications or 2 years of related experience.

Qualifications

Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing in English.
Basic knowledge of arithmetic.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn new software and devices.
Basic knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in highway construction.
Ability to read and understand construction plans and drawings, contract provisions and specs.

Responsibilities

Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
Determine acceptability of day-to-day work and review contractor daily reports; verify QC procedures and material testing.
May be required to sample and/or test soil, aggregate base, concrete and asphalt in place.
