Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site inspector to support transportation construction projects across multiple locations. The role focuses on inspecting traffic control, environmental controls, and construction methods to ensure compliance with plans and specs.

You will review contractor performance, accept or reject daily reports, and assist with material testing and QC procedures under supervision. Travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• NICET/ACI certifications in earthwork, asphalt, or concrete may be required by client or jurisdiction.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• At least 2 years of related field experience.
• Travel within US or abroad may be required depending on project.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Evaluate day‑to‑day contractor work, review daily reports, inspect QC procedures, and verify conformance with the Quality Control Plan.
• Review material testing procedures and results, measure quantities, and may perform sampling or in‑place testing of soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt.
