Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to join our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group. You will perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials to support project success.

The role requires reading construction plans, basic math, and knowledge of highway construction. A high school diploma and a valid driver's license are required, with travel up to 40%.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity (ACI/NICET) if required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Travel may be required; frequency depends on duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials.
• Review daily reports and accept/reject contractor work; verify quality control procedures and testing.
• Review material testing procedures and results; measure quantities; may sample and test soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt.
