Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to support our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection team across project locations nationwide. The role involves inspecting traffic control, materials, and workmanship under supervision to ensure compliance with contract provisions and plans.

Candidates should have a High School diploma, relevant certifications (ACI/NICET if required), a valid driver's license, and about 2 years of related experience. Travel is expected (20–40%).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by client/jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; frequency contingent on duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Determine the acceptability of day-to-day work by the contractor; review and recommend acceptance or rejection of daily reports; inspect QA procedures and material testing; verify conformance with QC Plan.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to the contract; measure quantities; may perform sampling and in-place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt.
