Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a field inspector to support transportation construction projects at multiple site locations across the United States, including on-site work and travel to project sites. The role emphasizes inspection of traffic control, environmental controls, materials, and workmanship under direct supervision.

Responsibilities include reviewing daily contractor reports, ensuring QC plan conformance, and performing material testing as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
• Basic arithmetic knowledge relevant to inspections.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review daily contractor reports and assess acceptance or rejection; verify QC procedures and testing compliance.
• Review material testing procedures and results for contract conformance and measure quantities placed.
• May perform sampling or in-place testing of soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt.
