Job summary

Herc Rentals Inc. is seeking a Field Mechanic, Pump to service customer sites and Herc Rentals branches, ensuring pump equipment operates safely and efficiently. The role focuses on mechanical and minor electrical work across diesel, electric, submersible, and centrifugal pumps.

You will travel to job sites for repairs, perform preventative maintenance, and document service activities while maintaining safety and regulatory compliance. Seasonal on-call rotations may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical school preferred
• 2+ years of experience as a mechanic, preferably with pump systems, heavy equipment, or diesel engines
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL if required
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and minor electrical issues
• Ability to travel within the assigned region

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of industrial pump systems at customer sites and company branches
• Travel to job locations for emergency repairs, scheduled maintenance, and equipment installation
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on all assigned equipment
• Use diagnostic tools and technical manuals to determine equipment malfunctions
• Document work completed and parts used, and report any further service requirements
• Communicate effectively with customers and branch personnel regarding repair status and timelines
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in safe working order
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and Herc Rentals procedures
• Train end users or customers on proper use and daily maintenance of pump equipment as required
• Participate in on-call rotations or emergency response schedules as assigned
