Job summary

POWERX is seeking a P&C Test Engineer II to execute relay protection tests and support commissioning across distribution and transmission substations. You will work under Senior or Lead oversight, expanding from component tasks to system-level understanding while documenting results and advancing protection testing skills.

Qualifications

• Experience with relay protection testing on power systems.
• Ability to read drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Willingness to progress to Senior level with coaching.
• Knowledge of AC/DC power system fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Execute assigned relay protection testing tasks using Doble, Omicron, RTS, SEL AcSELerator, GE Enervista, and equivalent platforms under Senior or Lead oversight.
• Perform relay input/output testing, analog-to-digital metering checks, and element pickup/timing tests with documentation.
• Perform CT/VT testing including ratio, polarity, phasing, and grounding verification on familiar configurations.
• Execute breaker control circuit testing including trip path verification and breaker tests.
• Read and navigate one-lines, three-lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and panel layouts.
• Identify station phasing and equipment orientation with guidance on complex configurations.
• Apply knowledge of protection concepts and device behavior to testing tasks.
• Navigate manuals and settings files to support testing work, connecting results to protection schemes.
