Job summary

Sigma Technologies is seeking a Power Designer - Field to lead pole design from field data collection through construction-ready deliverables. Remote work is available when not in field, with regular local site visits required and travel as needed.

You will perform field surveys, verify pole data, and develop complete design packages compliant with NESC and client standards. Travel and field work will be essential parts of the role.

Qualifications

• This role requires a high school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in engineering, drafting, or related field is preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in power distribution design or make-ready engineering; 2+ years strongly preferred.
• Experience performing utility pole walkouts and field data collection to support design work.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; DDS, Katapult, O-Calc, or similar utility design platforms preferred.
• Strong understanding of overhead power distribution construction practices and NESC standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform field surveys and pole walkouts to collect attachment, clearance, and structural data.
• Verify pole ownership, attachment types, heights, spans, and equipment in the field.
• Develop complete, construction-ready design packages.
• Execute overhead distribution and make-ready designs in compliance with NESC and client standards.
• Collaborate with engineering, PM, and QC teams; support design reviews.
