Job summary

Sigma Technologies in Norman, OK is seeking an experienced Power Designer - Field to own the full lifecycle of overhead pole design, from field data collection through construction-ready deliverables. This role involves travel within specified regions and regular local fieldwork.

You will verify field conditions, apply NESC standards, and develop complete design packages using CAD/MicroStation and related tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 1 year in power distribution design or make-ready engineering.
• Experience performing utility pole walkouts and field data collection.
• Proficiency with CAD or MicroStation; DDS/Katapult/O-Calc preferred.
• Knowledge of NESC standards and pole loading concepts.

Responsibilities

• Perform field walkouts and surveys to collect attachment, clearance, and structural data.
• Verify pole ownership, attachments, heights, spans, guying, and equipment in the field.
• Develop construction-ready design packages following NESC standards.
• Execute overhead distribution and make-ready designs per client standards.
• Calculate pole loading and resolve clearance issues.
• Collaborate with engineering, PM, and QA teams.
• Support quality control reviews as needed.
