Job summary

Scotch is seeking a hands-on POS Installation Technician to deploy and configure POS systems for retailers across the continental United States. This is a travel-intensive, field-based role on the road up to 100% travel, requiring independence, reliability, and the ability to manage uneven schedules.

You will install hardware and software, test end-to-end functionality, train store staff when needed, and hand off complete POS environments.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience installing, deploying, or supporting POS or retail tech.
• Onsite hardware installations, device configuration, cabling, go-live support.
• Willing to travel up to 100% across continental US, including overnight stays.
• Variable schedule, frequent travel, time away from home.
• Hands-on hardware setup, cabling, troubleshooting.
• Basic networking concepts (IP, routers/switches, connectivity).
• Reliable, self-motivated with strong communication.
• High school diploma and valid driver's license.
• Able to travel by air and rent vehicles; lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Travel to retail locations to install, configure, and commission POS hardware and software.
• Perform installations during pre-opening windows to minimize business disruption.
• Disassemble previous POS systems and organize components for disposal.
• Set up Scotch POS terminals, cash drawers, printers, scanners, and readers.
• Route and manage cabling; coordinate with on-site networking and electrical teams.
• Install and update POS software; verify integration with back-office, payments, and inventory.
• Test hardware and software end-to-end; troubleshoot on-site and achieve sign-off.
• Provide basic training to store staff on the installed system.
• Complete installation checklists, documentation, and reporting on time.
• Communicate status to project managers, store contacts, and deployment team.
• Transport and account for tools and inventory while traveling.
• Adhere to safety, security, and brand standards on-site.
• Manage travel arrangements for all installations (hotels, flights, cars).
