Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Field Engineering Technician to perform field inspections of utility poles across New England. This hourly, full-time role involves data collection, field measurements, and coordinating with pole owners to set attachment heights.

Qualifications

• High School diploma is required.
• AS/BS in engineering or related STEM field preferred.
• Experience with fieldwork and distribution component identification is beneficial.
• Ability to work in team and independently and meet deadlines.
• Must be local to the area.
• Knowledge of NESC Standards and Client Standards is helpful.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Willingness to perform both field and office work.
• Ability to work long days in outdoor environments.
• Valid Driver's License is required.

Responsibilities

• Travel around New England (CT, MA, NY, NH) to collect data, field measurements, and photos of utility poles.
• Meet with joint pole owners to determine attachment heights for new 3rd party attachers.
• Document maintenance concerns and collect data for Leidos designers to design solutions.
• Meet weekly goals and communicate status/progress.
• Occasional overnight travel may be required; 95% field-related work.
• As skills are learned, potential to learn/perform design tasks.
