Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Field Engineering Technician to perform field inspections of utility poles across New England. This hourly full-time role involves data collection, measurements and photos, plus meetings with pole owners to set attachment heights.

Travel CT/MA/NY/NH, with occasional overnights. You will document pole conditions for Leidos designers and may grow into design tasks as skills develop, with safety procedures and progress reporting required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma (preferred: AS/BS in engineering or related STEM field).
• Prior field work experience in power distribution.
• Ability to work in both team and independent environments and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to perform both field and office work.
• Must be local to the area.
• Valid Driver’s License and ability to use cell phone and 8MP camera.

Responsibilities

• Travel across New England to collect data, measurements and photos of poles.
• Meet with joint pole owners to determine attachment heights.
• Document maintenance concerns and collect data for design solutions.
• Occasional overnight travel; weekly status reporting to supervisor.
• Opportunity to learn design tasks as fielding skills grow.
