Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Field Engineering Technician to perform field inspections of utility poles across New England. This hourly, full-time role involves traveling within CT, MA, NY, and NH to collect data, measurements, and photos, and to meet with pole owners on attachment heights for new attachers.

The position includes potential overnight stays, per diem meals, and the opportunity to learn design tasks as skills grow. Candidates should have a high school diploma and relevant field experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma minimum requirement.
• AS/BS in engineering or related STEM field preferred.
• Experience in field work and distribution component identification is a plus.
• Ability to work in both team and independent environments and meet deadlines.
• Must be local to the area and have a valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of NESC standards is helpful; proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Travel across New England (CT, MA, NY, NH) to collect data, measurements, and photos of utility poles.
• Meet with joint pole owners to determine attachment heights for new attachers.
• Document maintenance concerns and gather data for design solutions.
• Meet weekly goals and report progress to supervisor; learn design tasks over time.
• Work in varying locations; some overnights may be required.
