Field OSP Fiber Construction Engineer – Lead Projects

Job summary

Lumos Fiber is seeking an OSP Construction Project Engineer to expand our 100% fiber network and deliver reliable connectivity to communities. You will oversee contractor performance, resolve field challenges, and drive multiple fiber construction projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

This field-based role requires regular onsite work throughout Clark County & Floyd County, IN, so candidates must reside within 1 hour of the market and be able to travel between active jobsites.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in OSP construction, telecommunications engineering, network deployment, or related field operations.
• Strong knowledge of aerial, underground, and buried fiber construction, including OSHA and NESC requirements.
• Experience managing contractors and multiple active projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Own multiple OSP builds across the market from construction readiness through closeout.
• Set clear expectations for contractors and subcontractors, holding teams accountable for safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
• Track production, schedules, costs, risks, and field progress, and inform stakeholders with timely updates.
• Inspect active jobsites and ensure work meets OSHA, NESC, Lumos standards.
• Coordinate permitting, materials, utilities, municipalities, and other field dependencies.
• Resolve field roadblocks and community concerns quickly and professionally.
• Partner across Engineering, Operations, Permitting, and Supply Chain to improve Lumos planning, builds, and scaling.
