Job summary

Lumos is expanding its fiber network across communities. The OSP Construction Project Engineer will oversee contractor performance, field challenges, and multiple fiber builds to meet safety, quality, schedule, and budget.

This field-based role requires onsite work in the Newburg, IN area, traveling between active sites and residing within 30 miles of the market; you will collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Permitting, and Supply Chain to keep projects moving.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in OSP construction, telecommunications engineering, or related field operations.
• Strong knowledge of aerial, underground, and buried fiber construction and OSHA/NESC requirements.
• Experience managing contractors and multiple active projects simultaneously.
• Strong project management, communication, and relationship-building skills with MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own multiple OSP builds across the market from construction readiness through closeout.
• Set clear expectations for contractors and subcontractors, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
• Track production, schedules, costs, risks, and field progress with timely stakeholder updates.
• Inspect active jobsites to ensure compliance with OSHA, NESC, Lumos, and construction standards.
• Coordinate permitting, materials, utilities, municipalities, and other field dependencies.
• Resolve field roadblocks and community concerns quickly, professionally, and with sound judgment.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Permitting, and Supply Chain to improve planning and scaling.
