Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking Building Manager 1 or 2 to lead facility operations across assigned portfolios in Los Alamos, NM. The role emphasizes active field presence, coordination of maintenance activities, and direct customer engagement to ensure reliability and readiness.

Position variants include Building Manager 1 and Building Manager 2 with related education and experience requirements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of facility operations, maintenance processes, mechanical/electrical systems and infrastructure.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, maintenance personnel, operators, engineers, and leadership.
• Experience with CMMS tools and operational reporting.
• Ability to identify problems, support troubleshooting, and drive corrective actions.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating across multiple organizations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary operational interface between facility customers, maintenance, engineering and operations support.
• Support safe and reliable facility operations through maintenance execution and planning.
• Balance field presence with customer engagement and administrative duties.
• Coordinate with operators, maintenance, engineering, and programmatic teams to maintain continuity.
• Maintain routine field presence through walkdowns, monitoring, and direct customer engagement.
• Assist with work control, outage coordination and execution readiness activities.
• Assess facility conditions and risks, engaging relevant resources as needed.
• Support Conduct of Operations and Integrated Work Management principles.
• Participate in meetings and customer engagements to improve communication and execution.
