Job summary

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years old for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years old for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.
• Demonstration of the listed skills and abilities through education, certifications, or experience
• Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines
• Able to supply basic tools or participate in toolbox program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Able to work across multiple shifts including nights/weekends, if needed
• High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor/semi-trailer maintenance; military equivalent
• Experience in DOT and FHWA inspections and air brakes (preferred)
• Welding certification (preferred)
• Forklift certification and experience (preferred)
• EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license (preferred)
• Strong communication and multitasking abilities
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite

Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers, including tire replacements and basic structural repairs
• Troubleshoot and repair ABS systems
• Operate the mobile service truck and manage truck inventory
• Assist with onboarding and mentoring tractor technician trainees
• Follow safety requirements on-site and at customer locations
• Complete work orders and documentation accurately
• Document damage to equipment to estimate repair costs
• Use cutting torch and welding equipment for mid-level repairs on chassis and frames
• Patch holes in trailer or container panels and roofs
• Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under supervision
